Let’s be honest: the steam oven is usually where everything slows down. It’s the classic bottleneck. When you’re trying to push more product through the line, relying on steam alone just doesn’t cut it. It’s too slow. That’s why we use shortwave infrared (IR) emitters. Think of it like the sun hitting your skin on a hot day—it doesn’t wait for the air to warm up; it just hits you. These lamps blast radiant energy straight into the product, getting the core temperature up way faster than steam ever could. The Power Side of Things If you want to speed up your conveyor, you need a lot of heat in a very small space. We set these emitters for high-voltage operation to get the most punch possible. By packing all that power into a quartz tube, we create an intense heat source that ignores the air around it. The second your product hits the IR zone, it starts absorbing energy. But here’s the catch: you can’t just crank the wattage to the max. If you do, you’ll torch the crust before the middle is even warm. It’s all about finding that sweet spot between lamp power and how fast your belt is moving. Why Quartz? We use halogen-filled quartz tubes because they’re fast. Really fast. Unlike those ceramic heaters that take forever to warm up, these things are ready to go in seconds. Plus, we use standard connectors (like R7s or Sk15). This is a lifesaver because when a lamp eventually burns out, you can just swap it for a new one without having to rewire your entire rack. Simple. Making it Work Together The real magic happens when you add these emitters to your existing steam setup. You keep the moisture you need, but you get that golden-brown finish much quicker. Your cycle times drop, and your output goes up. Just a heads-up: these high-wattage arrays put off a ton of ambient heat. You’ve got to get your cooling fans and ventilation right. If you don’t, you’re going to fry your sensors and control boards, and that’s a headache nobody wants.
