Getting the heat just right Here’s the thing about the SBO 20 Series 2: it’s picky. You need a very specific wattage-to-voltage ratio to get that PET preform to the right temperature before it blows. If your lamps are too weak, you end up with uneven walls. Too hot? You’ll scorch the plastic. We made our replacements a mirror image of the OEM footprint. That means they just slide right in. No messing with your wiring, no tweaking the reflectors. It just works. Built to take a beating We went with high-purity quartz glass because these machines go through a brutal thermal rollercoaster. Most standard lamps give up at the pinch seal—especially when the machine starts vibrating or you’re cycling the power on and off. We reinforced those end-cap seals to stop the premature burn-outs. Now, the lamps can handle the chaos of a high-speed production run without cracking. A couple of tips for the floor These lamps pack a lot of heat density to keep your cycle times fast. But there’s a catch. You’ve got to keep your reflectors spotless. If carbon builds up, that heat bounces straight back into the lamp jacket. Once that happens, it doesn’t matter how tough the lamp is—it’s going to die early. When you’re wiring them up, just stick to your machine’s voltage specs. And for heaven’s sake, check your cooling fans. High-output quartz lamps get hot—really hot. If your airflow is blocked, you’re just cooking your electrical components.
