
Making Sure Your PET Blowing Lamps Actually Fit
Most PET blowing machines run into trouble during the heating phase. Why? Usually, it’s because the lamps aren’t a perfect match. We don’t believe in “close enough.” We build our infrared lamps to be true drop-in replacements for Sidel and other big brands. Getting that fit right isn’t a marketing trick. It’s about obsessing over the physical footprint and the electrical load so you don’t have to fight with the hardware. The heat is where it happens. We spend a lot of time balancing voltage and wattage. If you’re running a 400V high-wattage tube, you get the kind of heat density that softens PET preforms fast. That speed is everything—it keeps the plastic from crystallizing and keeps your line moving. Here’s the catch: if the wattage is off by even 5%, your bottle walls end up uneven. That’s a nightmare for quality control. That’s why we keep our filaments on a very tight leash to make sure the heat stays consistent across the whole oven. Built to take a beating We use heavy-wall quartz glass and halogen gas fills. This stops the filament from burning out too early and helps the lamp handle the shock of heating up and cooling down over and over. As for the connectors, we stick with R7s and Sk15 bases. They’re the industry standard for a reason—they lock in tight. You don’t want a loose connection when things get this hot. A loose fit leads to arcing, and arcing melts your housing. Nobody wants that. Getting them running Since we mirror the original dimensions, these lamps slide right into almost any blowing oven. You can swap them out without having to mess around with your racks. One thing to keep in mind, though: if you push the maximum wattage, your cooling fans have to work harder. If your blower motors are getting old, that extra heat might trigger a thermal trip. We keep these in stock and ready to ship because we know how much downtime costs you.
