If you don’t have a solid IP rating (that’s just the industry term for “how waterproof is this?”), your heater is basically a ticking time bomb of oxidation. The fog problem You know that foggy film that hits the mirror? It happens to the heater too. But condensation on an infrared emitter is more than just an eyesore—it’s dangerous for the hardware. When water droplets sit on the lamp, they absorb the heat unevenly. This creates “hot spots” that can actually crack the quartz tube. To fix this, we tweaked the thermal profile. We keep the outer lens just warm enough to stay above the dew point. No fog, no cracks, no problems. You’ll want to make sure your bathroom’s electrical circuit can actually handle the load. If your wiring is too thin, you’ll get a voltage drop, and you’ll notice the heater just isn’t hitting those cozy temperatures you’re looking for. At the end of the day, it’s all about the seals and the materials. If you keep the moisture out and the heat steady, the lamp lasts. It’s just basic physics.
